The Swedish activist is the initiator of “Fridays For Future” and the face of a worldwide protest movement. When Greta Thunberg found out about climate change, she was only eight years old. As a result, the student begins to save energy at home. Later she switched to a vegan diet and convinced her parents not to fly anymore. “Skolstreijk För Klimatet” written on her cardboard sign with which she sat in front of the parliament building in Stockholm on August 20, 2018. She returned there with her sign every day for three weeks during school hours. She later announced online that she would continue the boycott of classes on Fridays until Swedish climate policy conforms to the Paris Agreement. Underneath, she used the hashtag #FridaysForFuture. Schoolchildren from all over the world join her project and go on the streets on Fridays to put pressure on politicians. Greta Thunberg herself spoke at the United Nations Climate Change Conference and met the most powerful heads of state in the world. In November 2019, the European Parliament declared a climate emergency. Less than two weeks later, Time Magazine named the then 16-year-old Greta Thunberg Person of the Year.
