“Even stones that have been placed in your way can be used to build something beautiful.ˮ
„Auch aus Steinen, die einem in den Weg gelegt wurden, kann man etwas Schönes bauen.“
The manager of the Warsteiner brewery in the Sauerland represents the ninth generation of a traditional family business. Catharina Cramer is the youngest of three sisters, but whilst her sisters make other plans for the future, her father hoped that his daughter Catharina will follow in his footsteps. When he asked the business student if she would like to take over the world renown brewery one day, she didn’t have to think twice. At the celebrations for the 250th anniversary of the brewery, Albert Cramer introduced his youngest daughter as the future head of the company. The 26-year-old had just completed her studies at London’s European Business School and was prepared to begin her journey into professional work experience. In the following three years, the business economist completed various internships abroad, organized banquets in Paris and finally joined a large spirits manufacturer as a marketing expert. In 2006 she returned to the Sauerland and became the first woman in the history of the Warsteiner Brewery to take on management responsibility. After the death of her father, it is now up to Catharina Cramer to lead the traditional company into the future. In any case, her two children don’t stop the businesswoman.
